Léa Seydoux stars in Amos Gitai's adaptation of Elsa Triolet’s 1959 novel. A young couple marry in 1940s France and we follow the arc of their marriage over the next decade. As France recovers from the trauma of the war, salon manicurist Marjoline finds herself increasingly caught up in acquiring material possessions while horticultural researcher Daniel prefers a more traditional lifestyle.
